About MLB Ownership Politics
Major League Baseball features 30 franchises owned by some of the wealthiest individuals and families in American business. Ownership political alignment varies widely — from the heavily Democratic giving of the Dodgers Mark Walter and Red Sox John Henry, to the strongly Republican donations of the Cubs Ricketts family, Cardinals DeWitt family, Rangers Ray Davis, and Astros Jim Crane. The MLB Commissioner Office PAC gave 51% to Republicans in the 2024 cycle, marking the first GOP-majority cycle since 2016.
